Aimed at ages 11-16 (or up to age 25 with an EHCP), we provide weekly tuition online over Zoom and a free software license for the Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) that we will use.

These are not traditional music lessons. There are no exams, no grades, and no one telling you that you are doing it wrong. If you like beats, sounds, basslines, loops, lyrics, or just messing about and seeing what happens, you are in the right place.

At Upbeatz you can create your own tracks, experiment with digital music, try beat making, songwriting, sound design, and production, and learn how music is actually made. You do not need any experience. You do not need to read music. You do not need to be confident. You just need curiosity.

You can work on your own or with others. You can go at your own pace. Some people come to chill and create. Others get seriously into it and want to build skills, finish tracks, or work towards something bigger. Both are welcome.  We will look at how music is used in the video gaming industry and have a masterclass in Beatboxing from Rocco (formerly BellaTrix!).

Music can be loud, quiet, messy, emotional, fun, or calming. Upbeatz gives you space to explore all of that, safely and without judgement. For some people it builds confidence. For others it becomes a way to express things that are hard to put into words. For many, it is just somewhere they finally feel comfortable creating.

The course will take place every Wednesday Term Time from 6.00pm – 7.30pm From the end of April until the end of November!  We will then continue with a weekly music club online after that.
